I met Adrienne Smith three years ago, in my 15th year of playing with The Cleveland Orchestra. I play an instrument which requires a great deal of physical effort and had been dealing with chronic back pain and occasional spasms throughout my career. As a result, I kept running into “dead ends” for treatment of my issues. It turns out that the repetitive motion associated with being a professional classical musician had resulted in a moderate case of scoliosis in three areas of my spine.
Adrienne’s plan for me included an initial body assessment which highlighted my strengths and more importantly, my weaknesses. It became apparent to her that I needed an immediate intervention: this included corrective exercise, nutritional advice, targeted muscle activation/release, metabolic analytics, and strength training. Initially, I trained with Adrienne and her team four times a week and eventually stepped down my visits as my imbalances subsided and my strength increased. With the years of knowledge training at FE3, I now workout on my own in a public gym.
Adrienne is my chief health advocate, and to this day designs my workouts and nutritional plans. In fact, I am currently on a 12-week powerlifting program! Adrienne and her team at FE3 helped transform my body over the last three years, and I am forever grateful.
