Timely
One of the biggest pitfalls in setting S.M.A.R.T Goals is not planning a timeline and tracking your progress along the way. Lets go over how to correctly plan and track your goal!
Time based
- Make sure you have a selected starting and end date. If the goal is not time-concentrated there will be no sense of urgency. This leads to a lack of motivation and no desire to continue your goal.
- Time-lined
- Have a timeline laid out so you know exactly when you should be completing smaller objectives or short, mid, and long term goals.
- Track able
- Tracking your goals has to be a daily habit. Keep a daily log book and track everything pertaining to the progress of your goal.
- Make it public
- One of the biggest mistakes people can make when trying to reach a goal is not making it public to their friends, family, and co-workers. Making an announcement to your friends that you are trying to achieve a goal is going to be easier than trying to hide it. You will be more respected, less tempted, and even helped more in achieving your goal if you make it public.
